Considered by many as the best derby in the world because of the events on and off the field. It was another eventful Rome Derby,as Roma beats Lazio 2-0 and winning all the derby this season.Roma dominated the whole match with their pace and strenght. Francesco Totti again showed that his age is just a number as he was instrumental for the Lupi and scoring with 2 goals. Il Capitano’s sheer presence really inspired the Lupi as they looked like a different team from their performance against Shaktar during the mid-week. Lazio finished the game with 9 men as 2 players were sent off in the closing stages of the match. Lazio had two chances to score but with poor finishing, they failed to find the back of the net. The Biancocelesti grew frustrated after conceding the opener and being an emotional derby, Ledesma was shown the red for excessive arguing with the ref and Radu was sent off after head-butting Simplicio.

Roma fielded with their standard (4-2-3-1) formation with Totti upfront playing the pivot striker. Pizzaro proved again that he deserved being in the starting 11 with a nice performance both in offense and defense, as he caused some trouble at the Lazio’s goal and also controlled the midfield very well. Totti again proved that he is the “KING OF ROME” with a nice low free kick to score the opener, and was his usual self with a nice taken penalty to bring his side the victory. Philippe Mexes bounce back from a bad game during the mid-week, as he shut down Lazio’s offense and also winning all the aerial battles.

Lazio with their (4-3-1-2) formation didn’t had the same finishing as they did last week against Palermo. Both of their forwards, Sculli and Floccari missed golden chances in bring their side up and were not a factor the whole game. Ledesma was the only bright side for Lazio as his set plays caused the Giallorossi trouble and the only bad play was the red card during the injury time for arguing with the ref. Lazio didn’t find their offensive bearing the whole match as they a hard time breaking the Roma defense.

Post Match – Only 2 points separate Lazio and Roma as both of them sits at 5th and 6th position respectively. Roma has 10 points out of the possible 12 since Vincenzo Montella took over the helm. Lazio are just 2 points behind Udinese for the last champion’s league spot. Totti has been hot of late with 3 goals and 3 assists in his last 2 games that he started.

Philippe Mexes’ last Rome Derby and he played great

This is the only way that Metuzalem can stop the King of Rome
