Manchester United 2 vs. Marseille 1 (UCL 2nd Leg)–The One Where Chicharito is still ON FIRE!!

Edit Post
The Red Devils played a nice match, as they scored all the goals in the match (Brown with an own goal). On the other hand, it was a night to forget for Marseille as they weren’t able to finish any of their good quality chances. Missing the tandem of Vidic and Ferdinard, the center back duo of Smalling and Brown were shaky the whole night as they had a hard time containing Marseille's offense. Lucky for them, as Marseille had a hard time finding the net missing open chances and frustrating their fans in the process.

Manchester United played the traditional (4-4-2) with Rooney and Hernandez as their forwards. The Red Devil’s midfield frustrated Marseille with their slick passing and their ability to keep the ball. Scholes was exceptional as his passes were finding the mark. Nani was not himself the entire game as he failed to exert his presence. Rooney was his usual himself, working hard and missing but provided two great pass to Chicarito that made the difference. Chicharito once again proved that Sir Alex’s investment to him is worth him as he scored his 15th and 16th goal of the season. Wes Brown was a disaster waiting to happen, and he scored a own goal from a Marseille corner by misjudging the angle of the ball for a header and end up having the ball past the line. Edwin Van Der Sar was exceptional again as the 41-year old’s handling was excellent and controlled his line very well.

Marseille using (4-2-3-1) formation, with Gignac on top. Marseille pressured the erratic United center back with quick passing and lob passes. With their speed and timing, they were able to found themselves on 1 on 1 situation against the keeper countless of times, but failed to keep their poise and missing in the process. Lucho Gonzalez was exceptional as he was critical for Marseille with his killer passes and vision. Remy was another player who caused United problems, as his pace and quick feet were hard to handle. On the other hand, the ex-United, Gabriel Heinze, was not himself as he was caught sleeping and allow Hernandez pass him to convert the opener.

Post Match- Marseille would be kicking themselves after this, as they had their chances but failed to score even a goal. United would be using this victory to start another winning run and hope to restart their league form. United as usual, will be one of the favorites to win the cup and only injuries would hurt their chances.
Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez is on fire!!
