Shakhtar 0 vs. Barcelona 1 (2nd Leg UCL)–The One Where Barcelona Was All Business

Edit Post
I decided not to do a analysis on the first leg of this matchup because it was completely a one sided affair, and it seems hard to write an analysis that is full of praises at one team.
The second game was much closer compared to the first leg as Shakhtar pressured Barcelona’s defense. It was a gutsy performance by the Ukrainian side but alas, in the end, it was still a Barcelona victory
Shakhtar fielding a (4-1-3-1-1) formation was dangerous in some parts of the game, as they run rampant at Barcelona’s defense and created some dangerous chances but one thing went wrong, they forgot their shooting boots. With all of the shots by Shakhtar, none of it found the back of the net as it was either easily saved or a really bad miss. Luiz Adriano continued his somewhat hot and cold form from the first leg, he was hot because he created a lot of scoring chances for himself and his team but he was cold, as he missed all his shots and didn’t ever look comfortable shooting.

Barcelona fielded their traditional (4-3-3) and once again played their usual game as they dominated possession. Lionel Messi scored a nice goal and was also responsible in tons of goal scoring chances. Barcelona was missing their captain, Puyol, and it showed, the back line was disorganized but was saved by the acrobatics and reflexes of Victor Valdes.

With this win, it is one step closer to an el clasico semi final.

A frustrating night to be the Manager of Shakhtar
